The birds nest was designed for fishing California rivers but it works everywhere. It is a favorite on all western trout rivers and streams. It can be fished as a nymph either with or without split shot, or can be fished on the swing to imitate ascending caddis pupae.

It is particularly effective when treated with Stone Creek™ FROX™ Ultra Fine Fly Treatment to make it repel water and hold air bubbles. These bubbles look very much like a subsurface ovipositing caddis.
